Hush Now
In a packed June meeting we had another dose of short stories and flash fiction. Stephen brought in his story The Hushed, which was warmly received for its depth of characterisation and premise. Caroline, for her part, gave us a tale of a mother and son reunited in A Debt Repaid. The uneasy relationship provoked much debate on how the passage of time affects peoples’ ideas of each other and how guilt can be a powerful motivator.
In our flash fiction round Hilary introduced some notes on the next stage of evolution; Emma reimagined a certain celebrity spat as something much darker; Roisin speculated on how William and Kate coped with ‘that’ photograph; and Margaret shocked us all with some colourful language.
Our monthly trivia challenge also made a welcome return. There is talk of prizes for next month.
